Is Nudity Natural? There are most who would say, "Of course!" even though the entire lot of them might disagree as to its value. It would seem obvious, even if you have just finished reading the page that deals with the question, "Is Nudity Normal?" And so, we will concur it to be. Its very naturalness is what makes it seem so out of place in our entirely artificial society. We have spent too many generations working under the notion that Nature is something to be conquered, an enemy that, if not subdued, will somehow put an end to mankind's existence. The argument still goes on, mostly between environmentalists and their large-scale opponents bent on digging up the Earth's resources and converting them into gold. Simple Naturism is environmentally sound simply because it is an entirely natural, philosophically accommodating and practical statement of existence. "We are naked, and think we are right to be that way." How much depletion of natural resources can you find in that? It may be to the detriment of Naturism that it is a pursuit of the entirely natural. Natural things are hard to manufacture. You can't tax what is not bought and sold, nor can you make a profit on it. You can't vote to change it, because it only comes the way Nature provided it, and you cannot manipulate it into serving your artificial ends. All you can do is try to eliminate it, and force its adherents to opt instead for something with a commercial price tag attached. Human beings went about naked from the beginning and through all of recorded history until the past few hundred years, and that as a result of the spread of European-sA Flake Named Jake--a Naturist Critiquetyle commerce into the rest of the world. Great Britain was a major force in the demise of common nudity, as it went about conquering the world and converting it into a customer base—something it seems to still be doing as an underling partner to the United States. Naked natives were regarded as potential future customers back then, and now we call them our "trading partners". The only way our artificial culture can sustain itself is through commerce, something from which Naturism normally detracts due to the reduction of needs and artificial interests. Should someone find a way to artificialize Naturism, it would likely go a long way toward enhancing its acceptability into our artificially normal existence.
